Playing their first game since learning Nene would miss six weeks with a knee sprain, the Wizards didn't get much production from the Big Brazilian's replacements, but they didn't need it to soundly defeat the Magic, 115-106.

The Wizards passed their first test without Nene, beating the Magic, 115-106, Tuesday hours after learning their starting big man would miss six weeks with a sprained left MCL. With Kevin Seraphin nursing a sore knee himself, Trevor Booker started in Nene's place, with Al Harrington and (drum roll) Chris Singleton coming off the bench.

That trio combined to score 14 points on 6-for-18 shooting. Booker and Singleton did a decent job on the glass, hauling in seven and five boards apiece, while Harrington helped stretch the floor. Still, not the most productive fill-ins. Fans can probably expect Seraphin, when healthy, to take Singleton's minutes and probably steal a few from Booker, as well.

Good news for the Wiz is that they didn't need much from Nene's subs, as the remaining four starters each scored more than 20 points while making more than half of their shots. John Wall scored a game-high 27 points to go with seven assists and only one turnover, Trevor Ariza scored 22 points on 7-of-10 shooting (5-of-5 from three!), Marcin Gortat notched his fifth-straight double-double with 21 points and 10 rebounds, and thanks in part to his nine free throw attempts, Bradley Beal scored 21 points despite taking (and making) only one three.

Good stuff. It's worth noting that Wizards did allow Orlando to shoot 50 percent and outrebound them 45-34, and that this would have been a closer game had Washington not shot <strike>a scorching 21-of-28</strike> 10-of-16 (<strike>75</strike> 62.5 percent) from three. As Mike noted on Twitter during the game, a better effort will be needed tomorrow against the Raptors.

Still, it's hard to complain about a nine-point win over any team, especially when it gives the Wizards a four-game winning streak and pushes them one game above .500. Keep it going, lads.

The Wizards extend their winning streak to four, they're one game over .500, and they passed their first test without Nene and Seraphin with flying colors.

Washington, D.C. - A wire to wire win! Woo!

John Wall scored 27 points, Trevor Ariza had 22 (including 5/5 from three!), and Bradley Beal and Marcin Gortat both logged 21 points as the Wizards went on to beat the Magic 115-106. The team as a whole shot 52.5% from the field and 62.5% from three-point territory. It's hard to beat a team that's shooting that well from downtown. Sorry, Orlando.

The Wizards also successfully withstood their first real Nene-less test. Without Nene and Kevin Seraphin at his side tonight, Marcin Gortat was able to notch his fifth straight double double. Trevor Booker, Al Harrington, and Chris Singleton helped round out the frontcourt rottation... and it was kinda weird seeing Harrington and Singleton out there.

Other happy news: the Wizards have a four-game winning streak, and they're one game above .500 again for the second time this season and the second time in John Wall's professional career. Milestones, folks!

Anyway, not a ton to report about this game. The Wizards shot the ball well, showed they could play solid smallball, Ariza continues to prove why he couldn't be traded, and Harrington and Singleton proved they could still make some solid on-court contributions. All in all, a good win.

What did y'all think? Have at it in the comments (like I even need to tell you; you all know how to do it)!

No Arron Afflalo tonight, so this is as good a chance as any to go small with Trevor Ariza at power forward.

It's been a tough couple of days since Nene was injured last Sunday. But life goes on. Tonight, the 17-41 Orlando Magic come to town.

While the Wizards have been able to beat the Thunder, Heat, and Blazers by double digits at home this season, this same team has lost at home to the Sixers, twice to the Cavaliers, the Pistons, the Bucks, and Nuggets - all teams that don't figure to be in the playoff picture.

The Magic last came to Verizon Center on December 2 (the Wizards won handily, 98-80), but this is another day.

Where and when? The game is at 7 p.m. at Verizon Center. You can watch the game on Comcast SportsNet

Are they good? No.

Who's out? For the Wizards, Nene and Kevin Seraphin will be out. For Orlando, the Magic's leading scorer, Aaron Afflalo will likely be out due to a sprained ankle. They'll also be without Glen Davis because they bought him out of his contract at the end of last week, and he later signed with the Clippers.

What are they good at? The Magic's defensive field goal percentage is 14th, and their defensive rating is 17th. With Nene and Seraphin out, there also is a higher chance that the Wizards could have an off day shooting and that is something that could play in Orlando's favor.

In terms of personnel, while Afflalo will probably not be playing tonight, rookie guard Victor Oladipo has shown some good flashes throughout the season, including a 30 point, 14 assist, and nine rebound performance last Saturday in a win over the New York Knicks. Nikola Vucevic is also a double-double machine and could give the Wizards some fits when it comes to the rebounding values. Last but not least at the point guard position, John Wall should have the upper hand on Jameer Nelson.

What are they bad at? Almost everything else.

Who's going to win? I'll say that the Wizards should ultimately win this game, even without Nene and Seraphin. However, they had better not write the Magic off as an afterthought or you can add this game to an already large list of disappointing home losses that the Wizards already have on their resumé.
