After missing the season opener with a calf injury, Seraphin announced that he's getting closer to making a return to the court.

Before Tuesday's game against the Cavaliers, the Wizards' French big man Kevin Seraphin expressed his frustration at missing the first game of the season, tweeting "too shame i cant play the first game". However, it looks like things are getting better as the Wizards get ready for Saturday's home opener against the Celtics.

Thursday afternoon, Seraphin hopped on Twitter and invoked Michael Jordan's famous comeback press release as he announced his return:

Seraphin followed that up shortly after with some more details on his first day back on the practice floor.

Seraphin hasn't provided any timetable on when we'll see him again on the court, but the Wizards do have a very forgiving schedule at the moment that should allow to continue to recover without missing many games. The Wizards don't play again until Saturday night against the Celtics at home. After that, they don't play again until Wednesday, November 7th. So even if Seraphin isn't ready to play for another week, he'd only miss two games. But still, getting back on the practice floor is a big first step, and one that hopefully leads to seeing him suit up for the home opener on Saturday.

The Wizards' big man has missed the past two weeks after injuring his calf.

It's been over two weeks since Kevin Seraphin injured his calf against the Cavaliers in preseason action, and it appears like his calf will continue to keep him off the floor as the Wizards begin the season. Seraphin had this to say on Twitter last night in regards to his chances of playing in Tuesday's game in Cleveland.

It's worth noting that Seraphin sent this tweet out on Sunday, and that no official word on his status has come out yet. If it does, we'll pass it along.

Seraphin, along with John Wall and Nene, will be out for Tuesday's game. The good news is the Wizards don't have another game until Saturday at home against Boston, so hopefully three days off will give the big man a chance to get healthy for the second game of the season.

We're still not sure just how severe Kevin Seraphin's right calf injury will ended up being, but Michael Lee of the Washington Post reports that he has been ruled out of the team's preseason game against the Brooklyn Nets on Monday. The Wizards practiced on Sunday, but Seraphin did not take part.

Seraphin suffered the injury in the first quarter of the team's 99-95 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Saturday night. Without Seraphin, Brian Cook starred, helping the Wizards get their first preseason victory. However, we all know that's not a consistent winning formula. The Wizards desperately need Seraphin healthy, especially given the injuries to Nene and Trevor Booker, as well as Emeka Okafor's illness.

If none of those players can go on Sunday, we may see a frontcourt featuring Jan Vesely and Cook starting, with Earl Barron as the first big man off the bench. Chris Singleton will continue to play some backup power forward until everyone gets healthy.

The Washington Wizards' big man injured his right calf against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The Washington Wizards picked up a 99-95 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Saturday night, but that victory came with a cost. Kevin Seraphin, the team's best healthy big man, felt a sharp pain in his right calf midway through the first quarter and left the game, never to return. The Wizards must now have to deal with the reality that he could be injured for some time.

Coach Randy Wittman didn't seem optimistic after the game. Via Michael Lee of the Washington Post:

"He keeps saying he's going to be all right, but he's not walking very good," Wittman said. "Just seems to be, for some reason, can't keep a big healthy. We had so many. I was worried leading into the preseason how I was going to get everybody minutes at the bigs. Now, I can't get a big to get minutes."

Seraphin left the arena in a walking boot, which is definitely cause for concern. However, he thinks he's going to be OK. Via Lee:

"We will look. I can put my feet on the floor and that doesn't feel very bad," Seraphin said. "But I'm going to be all right. Everything is in the mind."

With Nene, Emeka Okafor and Trevor Booker all out with different nagging ailments, the Wizards need Seraphin healthy. Seraphin is also trying to build on an excellent end to last season, so you'd hate to see something like this slow his progress.
