The Washington Mystics announced assistant coach LaToya Sanders and her husband Byron welcomed their first child, Semih Sway Sanders.

In a post on Twitter Monday evening, the team congratulated the new parents and revealed the baby was born on Sept. 9. The post includes a photo of the 2019 WNBA champion and her husband smiling while holding the baby in a car seat.

In March, the then 34-year-old announced her retirement from the WNBA. She spent the last five seasons of her career with Washington before becoming a part of the Monumental Sports & Entertainment Player Development group. As a player, she was most notable for being the starting center of the 2019 championship team that season. Sanders was also known for being a strong low post defender despite her lanky and diminutive frame.

That said, Sanders’ time in player development wasn’t long because she was elevated to an assistant coach position with the Mystics where she remains right now.

Congrats to the Sanders family!
