Pregame notes
The Washington Mystics are facing the Minnesota Lynx in their second preseason game Saturday afternoon. The Mystics are coming off a Wednesday loss against the Atlanta Dream at home. In that game, Tina Charles led the team with 18 points, making 8-of-15 shots. Jillian Alleyne followed with 10 points and 12 rebounds.
The Mystics didn’t have a great night offensively as they missed a ton of open shots. Starters Ariel Atkins, Natasha Cloud, and Theresa Plaisance and Leilani Mitchell all struggled to make shots. The team finished the night going 41.1 percent from the field and just 23.3 percent from beyond the arc.
The Lynx are missing Kayla McBride and Napheesa Collier due to overseas commitments but they still have a squad. It will be their first preseason game so the Mystics have a slight advantage of having a game under their belt and knowing what adjustments need to be made going into this matchup. It will be the first time we see former Mystics player Aerial Powers in a Lynx uniform.
