The Washington Mystics announced Sunday that they have waived forward Tyra Whitehead. The news comes just two weeks after the team signed her to a training camp contract and a few days before the Mystics pre-season opener against the Atlanta Dream.

Whitehead concluded her collegiate career at San José State as one of the most accomplished players in the program’s history, averaging a double-double of 14.1 points and 10.1 rebounds game. Her aggressiveness on the defensive end helped her yield 2.2 steals per game and 1.2 blocks per game.

The Mystics roster is now down to 17 players and the team will have big decisions to make before their first regular season game on May 15 against the Chicago Sky. The league-required maximum amount of players on a team’s roster is 12.

Here is Washington’s updated training camp roster. Myisha Hines-Allen, Kiara Leslie and Erica McCall have not reported to training camp due to overseas commitments.
