Pregame notes

The Mystics are set to play Friday night after opting to sit out of Wednesday’s game following the shooting of Jacob Blake by a Wisconsin police officer. All WNBA games Wednesday and Thursday were postponed.

The last time the Mystics played a game was last Sunday and it was against the same team they play Friday —the Mercury. The Mystics were unable to secure a win, losing by just one point. Washington has 5 players in double figures with Tianna Hawkins and Ariel Atkins leading the group with 19 and 18 points respectively. The Mystics were without Ariel Powers, who is now out for the season with a hamstring injury, and Emma Meesseman who is working through a shoulder injury. For the Mercury, Brittney Griner was out due to personal reasons and was not in the Bubble. It is unclear if Griner or Meesseman will be participating in the upcoming game and we may not know until closer to tip-off. If the two do not play, it will be an identical match up to last Sunday’s game. This time around the Mystics need to focus on not letting the ultimate veteran Diana Taurasi drop another 34 points on them.
