Some of you have openly called for Washington Mystics guard Natasha Cloud to be named to the USA Basketball women’s national team. While she isn’t a candidate for the regular team, she will still have a shot for a medal.

On Friday, USA Basketball announced that she was one of 11 women named to their training camp roster for their 3x3 team. The training camp roster also includes a mix of WNBA and college players that include Mystics alumna Stefanie Dolson, who is also under consideration for the senior national team.

Training camp will be from Feb. 12-13 at the Pullman Community Center in Chicago, Illinois. From there, the roster will be pared down to a four-woman roster that will play in the Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Bengaluru, India for three remaining spots in an eight-team field for the Olympics from Mar. 18-22.

In addition to Japan, the host, Russia, China, Mongolia and Romania have qualified for the Olympics already due to their rankings.

The USA 3x3 women’s team will be in Group A of the Qualifiers with France, Germany, Uruguay and Indonesia.

Good luck to Natasha to make the team, and to Team USA as they look to win in both 5x5 and 3x3!
