On Tuesday, the WNBA announced that Ariel Atkins and Natasha Cloud were named to the 2019 WNBA All-Defensive Second Team. This is the second time Atkins made the Defensive Team, while this is Cloud’s first.

For Atkins, she is making a name for herself as one of the WNBA’s best perimeter defenders early in her career. Last year, she was named to the All-Defensive team as a rookie which is impressive. She has continued her consistency into this season.

Cloud has always been a strong perimeter defender herself, but now she is finally getting a long-deserved shout-out after gradually improving on her game year after year. Her vote breakdown is also quite interesting because she has five first team votes but no second team ones.

Congratulations to Atkins and Cloud for leading the Mystics’ defensive efforts this season!
