Pregame Notes

Everyone can’t be in a cold shooting slump

If Washington intends on having a different outcome in this game than in their last game then everyone must have the shots falling. In the last game facing Chicago, the Mystics were 26-73 and were 8-29 from three-point range. Washington’s starters shot 16-51 from the floor and made four of the eight made three-pointers.

Yes, the opponents are different but facts are facts. This late in the season the Mystics cannot relax or disappear offensively. If that happens again then it can be worse than just moving down one spot in the WNBA rankings (Yep we’re in second place).

Don’t underestimate teams with lower records

These next few games even the previous against Chicago were teams Washington all have a better record than. That cannot be be brushed aside because anything is possible. When facing the New York Liberty the Mystics have to remain steadfast and focused.

Teams with nothing to lose can make teams have a rough start in the playoffs to come especially when it comes to seeding and first-round byes. Currently the Mystics are in second place which means they’ll have a double bye into the semifinals but only if they remain there or higher.
