Washington was leading 51-36 at halftime before the game was stopped due to safety concerns of an earthquake that hit Southern California and was felt in Las Vegas, Nevada. The game was previously halted before halftime, but after finishing out the half it was best to postpone the game until further notice.
There was word that the continuation of the game would happen in the first week of August, but the league needed to decide on a definite date based on both teams’ schedules. Monday Aug. 5 seems to work for Aces, but it is a tight fit for the Mystics, who will be already on the road.
The Aces have an away game against the Dallas Wings on Saturday, Aug. 3 but will host four consecutive games starting with the Mystics at home. As for Washington, they’ll be on the road starting with the Seattle Storm on Friday, Aug. 2, followed by the Phoenix Mercury on Sunday Aug. 4 and now the Aces the following day.
The WNBA typically doesn’t have games on Mondays, so this outcome is not particularly surprising.
The Mystics/Aces game on July 5 that was suspended due to an earthquake finally has a resume date.
