Mike Thibault wins WNBA Coach of the Month

The Mystics were 9-2 in June 2019. Without Emma Meesseman for most of it too!

On Tuesday, the WNBA named Mike Thibault the WNBA’s Coach of the Month for June. This comes after the Mystics went 9-2 in June and won five in a row overall.

The Mystics aren’t just the top team in the WNBA standings. They also are doing so with Emma Meesseman, who is one of the team’s stars. Many WNBA teams would be struggling or using her as a scapegoat for their losses. But for Mike Thibault, he just goes to work, finds the strategy to keep Elena Delle Donne and the gang happy .... and here we are.

The Mystics are the top team in the regular season!

Yes, I know, the Mystics would rather win the WNBA Finals. But still, it would be nice to see them get a semifinals bye too.

Congratulations to Coach Thibault for the award. He is always in the running for Coach of the Month and Coach of the Year. But as the WNBA’s best coach, the league’s going to try to find any narrative they can to keep him from winning it unless he doubles down. Now, it’s finally paying off since his first year in D.C. back in 2013 when he won Coach of the Year.
