The Mystics (9-6) will face the Fever (6-12) for the first time this season. Both teams have lost their previous three games. It is unclear whether Elena Delle Donne will be back in the lineup but it’s evident that the Mystics need their star back as soon as possible.

Pregame notes

The Mystics are winless without EDD — Washington has lost its last three games. Ever since Delle Donne fractured her nose, it seems like the Mystics forgot how good they are and how deep their bench is. With or without Delle Donne, they should win this game.

She’s listed as probable for Friday’s game. If she returns, she’ll likely been wearing a protective face mask.

Emma Meesseman must stay in midseason form — In her first game since rejoining the Mystics, Meesseman had 15 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists. She came back ready although it would have been understandable if she needed a game or two to readjust to her teammates. Now more than ever, the Mystics need her to finish the season strong. They are simply a stronger team with her on the court.

Kelsey Mitchell and Candice Dupree must be contained — Mitchell and Dupree are averaging 14 and 11.7 points respectively. Even though their numbers don’t cause any reason to panic, the Mystics should not doubt them because the pair have gone off several times this season where each have scored far more than their averages. The Mystics need to take care of business on both ends of the court.
