On Monday, the WNBA named Ariel Atkins to the 2018 All-Rookie Team. She was named alongside A’ja Wilson (Aces), Kelsey Mitchell (Fever), Diamond DeShields (Sky), and Azura Stevens (Wings).

Atkins averaged 11.3 points a game in the 2018 season and was also named to the WNBA All-Defensive Second Team. She was also the only player on a rookie scale deal to make the team.

In the 2018 WNBA Finals, Atkins has truly emerged as one of the Mystics’ core players, where she is averaging 16 points per game while averaging 49 percent shooting from the field and 41 percent from the three point line. Many people may have thought Atkins was a surprise pick at number six for the Mystics, but Mike Thibault definitely got this pick right.

Congratulations Ariel!
