On Thursday, the WNBA released its first round of 2018 All-Star Game returns. Mystics forward Elena Delle Donne was second in the returns with 24,152 votes, trailing Lynx forward Maya Moore who has 25,496 votes. If these rankings hold up, Delle Donne will be a captain for one of the All-Star teams.
The Mystics are currently fourth place in the WNBA standings with a 10-6 record, just two games behind the Phoenix Mercury and Seattle Storm who are tied for first with 13-5 records. You would think that the EDD Effect would help the Mystics. It has on the court, but not so much with All-Star Votes. That’s because no other Mystics player made the Top 10, Top 20, or Top 25 in the first round of returns. Kristi Toliver finished 26th with 5,061 votes.
The fan voting stops on July 12 while the All-Stars will be announced on July 17. The All-Star Game will be in Minneapolis, Minnesota on Saturday, July 28 at 3:30 p.m. EST.
