What to watch for

Now is not the time to slump as more than half the season has been completed and playoff talks will soon be in the works. Washington has lost two straight games, one on the road and at home. Friday versus the Chicago Sky will be Washington’s last home game in the month of July. Their road trip begins in Atlanta, who they just lost to at home, followed by Dallas and then back on the East Coast.

The Mystics need to remain victorious to stay afloat in the WNBA standings. Washington has moved around a bit starting at the top of the heap and moving down to fourth place then back up to first then third. Now after two losses they’re sitting at fifth place.

A Familiar Opponent

The Mystics have seen Chicago twice already this season and dominated in both games. It’s safe to say a sweep of the Sky is soon coming. In both their last meetings, defense was the key in coming out with a win. Chicago, combined both games, shot 47-129 (36.4%) against Washington’s defense. I guess it’s true that defense wins game and offense sells tickets.

Offensively Elena Delle Donne and Kristi Toliver were both keys in the previous match ups. When one scores the most, the other is not far behind to add the needed push. Defensive efforts and working together offensively will be the keys to a needed win on Friday night.
