The Washington Mystics (7-5) defeated the Chicago Sky (3-8) 88-60 on Tuesday evening.

For Washington, Kristi Toliver led with 19 points and 8 assists while Elena Delle Donne added 14 points. Chicago’s Cheyenne Parker scored a team-high 18 points and Kahleah Copper chipped in with 13 points.

Takeaways

The Mystics have a Dynamic Duo in EDD and Toliver

When Toliver and Delle Donne are both are both putting up numbers, the Mystics are more than likely in a great position to win any game. These veterans set the tone early on in the game and their teammates followed suit. If EDD stays healthy and Toliver can continue to put up consistent points, there’s no reason why this team can’t lead the WNBA in standings.

The Sky backcourt’s poor play hurt nearly everything else

Allie Quigley and Courtney Vandersloot are Chicago’s starting backcourt players. They are the engine that makes them go. Tonight, they scored a combined 12 points on 4 of 20 shooting. Yikes! Ultimately, the Sky shot 29.7 percent in the game.

Team work makes the dream work

Every player on Washington’s roster contributed in tonight’s win. Not only did the team start off strong but each Mystic also scored. Even Tayler Hill, who was questionable due to a knee injury, came off the bench and scored 6 points.

Tayler Hill is Back!

After sitting out for nearly a year after suffering a torn ACL, the guard returned to the court. She played 8 minutes and scored two 3-pointers. After the game, she said “coming off an injury is tough, but I’ve had great support”. Luckily for her, the next four of five games will be right at Capital One Arena so she should feel an abundance of support in her comeback.
