Pregame Key Notes

Keep starting LaToya Sanders at the five

The transition and change at the center position is working for Washington or should I say Sanders is working for Washington. In her last previous start, Sanders put up a double-double with 12 points, 11 rebounds and three assists shooting perfect from the floor. It’s very clear and evident that she’s starting to get more acquainted with the rotation of this Mystics’ team despite some injuries. Sanders stated where she felt her individual play was at and that she feels better than where she was a month ago.

“I think it’s a work in progress. I wouldn’t say that I’m a 100 percent, you know I can only go at max probably five minute stretches before I’m completely gassed,” she said. “I would probably say I’m at like 75 percent. I feel like I can be at better conditioning, but that comes with just playing and practicing, building up my iron.”

Not playing in the WNBA 11 years, but playing for 11 straight years has given Sanders the momentum to feel like a good starter for the Mystics. She mentioned she knows how to fit in, play off, and around other players.

“I just try to keep moving and keep the opponents on their toes and just try to make the game easier for myself and also for my teammates,” Sanders said.

ICYMI Tayler Hill is questionable...I repeat Tayler Hill is questionable

Been a long time since we’ve seen the words questionable for Hill. She went down in mid-July last year versus the Indiana Fever with an ACL tear that put her out for the season. In the 18 games she played last season, Hill started 16 of them averaging 13.3 points per game and 2.6 assists per game.

Hill has been definitely missed and could add depth to the scoring of the Mystics. Currently Elena Delle Donne and Kristi Toliver are the leading scorers for Washington: EDD (18.3 ppg) and Toliver (14.6 ppg). No word yet if Hill will be on minute restriction as of yet, but it could happen to get her back in the mix.
