The Washington Mystics are no longer undefeated after a 77-81 loss to the Seattle Storm on Wednesday evening.
Kristi Toliver led with 20 points, shooting 7 of 16. Ariel Atkins scored 18 while Tianna Hawkins followed her with 17 points. For Seattle, Jewell Loyd and Breanna Stewart scored 27 and 25 respectively.
The Mystics were without Delle Donne
With Elena Delle Donne out, it’s easy to wonder what could have been. Having her hands on the ball during the Mystics’ last possession would have probably been box office. This season, she’s put the team on her back and leading with 16.5 and 7 rebounds per game. Hopefully she gets well soon.
Kristi Toliver showed up early!
In the first half, Toliver led her team with 17 points. The veteran is playing stellar on the road thus far. She dropped 19 points in the previous win against the Lynx. If she keeps that same energy, her team should continue to follow her lead.
We’re still on our toes
Every game has been competitive with no major blowouts or comfortable leads except against the Lynx. The Mystics are meshing well, but it’s difficult to decipher just how good this team is despite having led the WNBA’s overall standings before this game. The Mystics are now 4-1 and clearly, only time will tell.
Next Game
Mystics will continue on the road to face the Phoenix Mercury on Wednesday, May 29 at 10 p.m. EST in Talking Stick Resort Arena.
