Mystics vs. Fever preview: Washington looks to finish preseason undefeated

New, comments

The Mystics won’t play a preseason game at Capital One Arena. But the Bob Carpenter Center in Delaware should provide plenty of homecourt advantage.

The Washington Mystics will play the Indiana Fever on Saturday night in Delaware. Here’s a preview.

Game Info

Where and When: Saturday, May 12 at 7 p.m. EST at the Bob Carpenter Center in Newark, Delaware

Streaming: Monumental Sports Network (subscription required)

What to look for

Will the Mystics’ guards outperform Indiana’s? On paper, the Fever have more young talent at the wing than the Mystics with Kelsey Mitchell and Victoria Vivians. Can Ariel Atkins, Tierra Ruffin-Pratt, and Myisha Hines-Allen keep them in check?

What will Krystal Thomas add to her game this season? The Mystics center returned earlier this week after a very successful stint with Mersin in the Turkish KBSL where she was a scoring and rebounding machine for the EuroCup Women quarterfinalists. Thomas mentions in the video below that she wants to add more perimeter defense to her game which would help Washington quite a bit if this happens.

How will the Delaware crowd be like? Elena Delle Donne is from Delaware and went to college at the University of Delaware where tonight’s game will be. While I wish that this game were in Washington instead, it will still be interesting to see how engaged the Delaware crowd will be tonight.
