The Mystics are thin on backcourt depth after Tayler Hill’s knee injury, Jennie Simms’ departure, and Natasha Cloud’s plantar fascia tear (God, I hope it’s not like what Nene had during his first couple of seasons with the Wizards).
To boost the backcourt, the Mystics signed Allison Hightower to a seven-day contract. Hightower played five seasons for the Sun from 2010-14. The high point during Hightower’s WNBA career when she was named a 2013 WNBA All-Star reserve. She tried to make a comeback with Connecticut earlier this season but was cut during training camp.
Hightower has also played for Mike Thibault in the early part of her career and dressed for the Mystics before they canceled their Friday game ... coincidentally against the Sun.
The good news? Former All-Star @alleycat23, who was just signed by the #Mystics today, is ready to go. She played for Thibault in CT. #wnba pic.twitter.com/cuXkyiqr55
