The Mystics announced on Thursday that they waived rookie guard Jennie Sims, who was their 2017 second round pick. Simms played 10 games for the Mystics where she averaged 1.2 points and 1.1 rebounds a game. Simms went to Old Dominion for college where she was the nation’s second leading scorer, behind now-San Antonio Stars guard Kelsey Plum.
With Simms’ departure and Tayler Hill’sknee injury, the Mystics’ backcourt can certainly use a boost. Whether they pick up someone from free agency or make a trade by Monday’s trade deadline remains to be seen.
