Things to look for
Get the offense rolling quickly - The Mystics have one of the most efficient offenses in the league, though they are average in terms of their effective field goal percentage. The Fever have the WNBA’s worst team defense, so this presents an opportunity for Washington to get things rolling, even if Elena Delle Donne is unavailable tomorrow.
Slow down Candice Dupree - Dupree is Indiana’s leading scorer and biggest offensive threat. She scored 18 or more points in each of her last three games, so it’s imperative that the Mystics keep her from getting too many touches on offense. On Friday, Tianna Hawkins, Krystal Thomas, and Tierra Ruffin-Pratt were overwhelmed by the Minnesota Lynx’s frontcourt. Indiana isn’t as strong, so hopefully we’ll see a better performance from them here.
Can Tayler Hill keep her scoring efficiency up? On Friday, Hill scored 20 points on 7 of 13 shooting and was 3 of 6 from three. That’s an efficient night by any standard. But Hill often counters that with three or four games where she’s struggling to make one third of her shots. Yes, her tendency to get to the free throw line may be partly why her efficiency is low, but the next step in Hill’s development is scoring efficiency. I’d like to see another performance from her like I did last Friday.
