Stefanie Dolson named a 2016 USA Basketball women's national team finalist

Dolson is one of 25 players named to the list.

On Monday, USA Basketball announced that 25 players were named as finalists for the 2016 Olympic women's national team roster. One Mystics player, Stefanie Dolson, has made the list.

Dolson participated with the national team for a four-game series of international friendlies last fall. In the series, she averaged 3.8 points and 3.3 rebounds per game.

I don't think it's likely that Dolson will make the Olympic team. Among the other finalists, New York Liberty center Tina Charles and Minnesota Lynx center Sylvia Fowles were on the 2012 Olympic team. Phoenix Mercury center Brittney Griner made the 2014 FIBA World Championship Team and was the team's starting center.

In light of that, the centers on the final roster will likely be Griner and either Charles or Fowles. But like I said last week about John Wall and Bradley Beal's chances to make future men's Olympic or FIBA World Cup teams, Dolson's commitment to USA Basketball will not go unnoticed in the future. So I think we will see Big Mama Stef rockin' the red, white, and blue for Team USA before too long.

The Olympics will be held on August 5-21 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The women's national team's preliminary schedule will also be announced later.
