The Washington Wizards’ decision to waive Ryan Rollins didn't make much sense in a vacuum as he showed some promise and was one of their few young guards with untapped upside. Now it appears they may have had an off-court reason to want to distance themselves from him.

According to The Athletic's Josh Robbins, Rollins is accused of repeatedly stealing from a Target in Virginia. It is important to emphasize the word "accused" as this has yet to play out in court. However, it stands to reason the news of this criminal proceeding influenced the Wizards’ decision to move on from a talented young guard.

For more details on the situation, I would encourage reading Robbins's full writeup on it. On Friday's live Bleav in Wizards podcast at 1:10 p.m. EST, Jahadi White and I had planned to discuss this personnel move and the addition of Hamidou Diallo on a 10-day contract. Now, I'm more looking forward to getting Jahadi's perspective on the accusation against Rollins.

I'm sure he saw teammates do some curious things during his career but a person making $1.7 million allegedly deciding to repeatedly steal smaller items has to be up there.
