It is August 14, more than two months until the Wizards play their first 2023-24 regular season game. I was looking at the information I have on players who might be with the Wizards during training camp,
There might be a trade or two before the Wizards open training camp. It looks to me like the Wizards have too many shorter wings (SG) and I think the loss of Jordan Goodwin in the Bradley Beal trade left them understaffed at the PG position. Below is the list I have. The last roster action I noted was Dejan Vasiljevic's Exhibit 10 contract. It is possible I missed an update.
There are 23 players on this list, including 16 under contract, two on two-way contracts and one Exhibit 10. Their 2023 second-round draft pick Tristan Vukcevic. The other three (Jules Bernard, Kyle Alexander, Osun Osuniyyi) were with the Wizards in 2023 Summer League and, to my knowledge, have not been signed by other teams.
Am I missing players or listing someone who already committed to another NBA team? Are there other players who you think will be with the Wizards training camp? They can take 21 players to training camp, and have 15 players on the roster, plus up to three on two-way contracts when the season opens. Also, what is your view on the number of guards who are unlikely to play minutes at PG, and the number of centers they need to have for the regular season? I have seen a few possible trades mentioned in the comments on recent Bullets Forever articles, and I think there will be a trade. What trade(s) do you think are realistic and likely to happen?
