The Detroit Pistons lost 125-119 to the Boston Celtics in overtime yesterday. It is the Pistons’ 28th consecutive loss, which ties an NBA record. The Pistons could break that record tomorrow at 6 p.m ET in a game against the Toronto Raptors.
Before the Pistons managed to blow the game, Washington Wizards forward Kyle Kuzma reposted an X post by WorldWideWob when the Pistons were up by 19 points over the Celtics in the first half, writing “At this point its like “dont be that team”.

From the context of Kuzma’s tweet, he likely intended to say that no team wants to be the team that loses to the Pistons. From hindsight, it’s coincidental that the Celtics were able to come back and win the game. And it’s even more of a coincidence that former Wizards center Kristaps Porzingis was a big reason behind the Celtics’ comeback.
I’m sure some NBA fans don’t think Kuzma should have said anything on X. After all, the Wizards are on track to finish with their worst regular season ever. But at the same time, Kuzma is stating the obvious. And the Wizards haven’t lost 28 straight games.
At least not yet.
