Poll: Did the D.C. government not take Monumental Sports & Entertainment seriously enough with new arena plans?

Could or should D.C. have been more aggressive?

Monumental Sports & Entertainment intends to move the Washington Wizards, Capitals and its corporate headquarters to Alexandria, Va. Despite a last ditch offer of $500 million on Tuesday, it was apparently too little, too late for the NBA and NHL teams.

In this poll, we want you to answer a question on whether the D.C. government could have done more or been quicker about negotiating with Monumental Sports. Since the Wizards and Capitals play there right now, the District stands to lose a lot economically.

But we also know that D.C. is trying to lure Philadelphia 76ers and New Jersey Devils owner Josh Harris, who could be the most popular NBA and NHL team owner in D.C.

No, Harris isn’t buying Monumental Sports or moving the 76ers and Devils.

But Harris just bought the NFL’s Washington Commanders, where the team’s previous owner, Dan Snyder, was looking to move the team, perhaps back to D.C.

The D.C. government has been open in trying to bring the Commanders back in city limits. So has that “distracted” them from keeping Monumental Sports happy?

Let us know in the poll below! It closes tomorrow at noon ET!
