It is no secret that the Washington Wizards have been desperate to find a starting point guard in the last few days since trading Russell Westbrook. They have now found their man in Spencer Dinwiddie, who played for the Brooklyn Nets last season. According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, his camp and the Wizards’ front office are near a deal, which would then require a sign-and-trade with Brooklyn:
Free agent guard Spencer Dinwiddie is nearing a deal with the Washington Wizards, sources tell ESPN.

Dinwiddie averaged 6.7 points and 3.0 assists per game last season for the Nets before missing most of the season due to a knee injury. In the season before, he averaged 20.6 points and 6.8 assists per game in 64 appearances.
At this point, I’m pretty confident that Dinwiddie will be with the Wizards this upcoming season. The only question I have is what his salary next year will be. Given that the Wizards are desperate to find a starting point guard, I wouldn’t be surprised that he gets more money than he would with other teams.
