The Washington Wizards have made some significant moves in the past week, most notably bringing in Spencer Dinwiddie from the Brooklyn Nets. His arrival also means that Washington has to say goodbye to two point guard options on last season’s roster. Ish Smith has already signed with the Charlotte Hornets.

But also, last week, Issac Bonga signed a contract with the Toronto Raptors, according to Blake Murphy of The Athletic. It is assumed that he will sign for a training camp contract.

Bonga averaged 2points per game for the Wizards in 40 appearances last season. In the coronavirus pandemic-shortened 2019-20 season, he averaged 5 points and 3.4 rebounds per game. He also competed in the 2020 Olympics this past summer for Germany, averaging 8 points per game, where his national team advanced to the quarterfinals.

Given Washington’s moves to acquire Dinwiddie but also Kyle Kuzma and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, there just wasn’t a spot left for Bonga. We wish him the best of luck with Toronto this fall.
