The Washington Wizards lost to the Sacramento Kings on Tuesday night in Las Vegas, 89-74 in their 2021 NBA Summer League debut.
The first half of the game was primarily in Sacramento’s favor. While the Wizards did have the lead briefly at some points, the Kings raced to an early 8-0 lead, led by as many as 10 points and still led 44-39 at halftime.
In the second half the Kings were able to maintain their double digit lead and cruised the rest of the way.
Caleb Homesley scored 13 of his 17 points in the first half to lead Washington. Rookie Corey Kispert scored 8 points in his professional debut and made two three pointers.
Six Kings scored in double figures with Louis King leading with 16 points.
I don’t think we can take very much away from this game. The primary reason why is because the Wizards were thrown out of their game after their game last Sunday against the Indiana Pacers was postponed due to coronavirus protocols. That said, Washington needs to do better next time as the Summer League team gets used to each other.
Washington’s next game is against the Brooklyn Nets on Thursday. Tip off is at 5 p.m. ET and you can see the game on ESPNU.
