The Washington Wizards are moving on to the next round of their head coach search process. According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, they are going to speak to Dallas Mavericks assistant coach Jamahl Mosley, Milwaukee Bucks assistant coaches Darvin Ham and Charles Lee, and Denver Nuggets assistant coach Wes Unseld, Jr. this week.
Mosley and Unseld Jr., are also serious head coaching candidates for the Orlando Magic job, sources tell ESPN.

Of the four coaches on this list, Lee was not mentioned previously as someone who interviewed with the Wizards already so I will focus this piece mostly on him.
Lee is one of the NBA’s rising young assistant coaches, having served with the Atlanta Hawks from 2014-18 and the Bucks since 2018 where they have advanced to the NBA Finals for the first time since 1974.
That said, Lee is best known as a high school basketball star, where he played guard at Quince Orchard High School in Gaithersburg, Md. and then at Bucknell University in Pennsylvania for college. While at Bucknell, the Bison advanced to the second round of the NCAA tournament in 2005 and 2006.
After his college days ended, Lee played professionally in Israel, Belgium and Germany before beginning his coaching career, starting as an assistant Bucknell and eventually to the NBA.
Wojnarowski stated (and I’ll emphasize it) that these aren’t necessarily the only coaches who are getting a second interview. They are just the ones who have been “leaked” to the reporters.
How would you feel about Lee coming to D.C.? Let us know in the comments below. And as a note of disclosure, I am not related to him.
