The Washington Wizards will not extend a qualifying offer to Issac Bonga for the 2021-22 NBA season according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN. Because of this, he will be an unrestricted free agent.
The Wizards won’t extend a qualifying offer on F Isaac Bonga, making him an unrestricted free agent, sources tell ESPN. Wizards need roster spots after taking on three players in Westbrook trade.

Washington acquired Kyle Kuzma, Montrezl Harris and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope for Russell Westbrook in a trade last Thursday. Since they also added Aaron Holiday in another trade, they were already above the roster limit.
Bonga could still be back on the Wizards next season, but it is a lot less likely at this point. It is possible that Washington trades some players for a point guard, the position they are most notably lacking in depth. But it will not be easy which could allow them to re-sign Bonga.
However, Bonga only averaged 1.9 points per game in 40 appearances last season. Even if you want to blame former head coach Scott Brooks for underutilizing him, it’s not like Bonga isn’t replaceable either.
