We spent some time last Thursday on Russell Westbrook’s reaction to getting traded from the Washington Wizards to the Los Angeles Lakers. To this point, we haven’t seen how the Lakers players traded to Washington feel.
But what about the new Wizards players?
Kyle Kuzma posted a message on Instagram with a short message: “Beal what’s the deal #captialboyz.” He misspelled “capital” in the hashtag.
And Montrezl Harrell had these Instagram stories.

I couldn’t see a message from Kentavious Caldwell-Pope on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram.
Getting traded is always tough, but arguably more so in Kuzma’s and Harrell’s cases. They are good players and we’ll get to that next week, probably after free agency. However, neither are All-Stars, let alone an MVP like Westbrook. They are certainly aware of the perception that they are throwaway pieces by heading to Washington, for now.
I’m skeptical that the Wizards will have both Kuzma and Harrell next season when they already have committed to Rui Hachimura and possibly Thomas Bryant. I believe the Wizards are better off shopping them around for a point guard in free agency unless they plan on moving Beal to that position next year.
Regardless, I’m happy to see that Kuzma and Harrell are looking forward to playing here.
