The Washington Wizards announced that three players will come in tomorrow for workouts. They are:
- Jordan Goodwin, G, St. Louis
- Trey Murphy, III, G, Virginia
- Kyree Walker, F, Chamelon BX
Of the three prospects, Murphy is the highest ranked. Matt Modderno had him in a 25 prospect Big Board and he is consistently in the Top 25 on Big Boards from NBADraft.Net to https://www.si.com/nba/2021/07/08/nba-draft-big-board-top-80-prospect-rankings-cade-cunningham-evan-mobley.
Murphy came to UVA after two years at Rice, where he averaged 11.3 points per game and made 43.3 percent of his three-pointers (52-of-120 attempts). Since the Cavaliers only played 25 games last season, Murphy averaged more than two made three-point shots per game.
Of the other prospects, Goodwin is a four-year player from Saint Louis where he was part of the Atlantic-10 All-Defensive Team and the All-Atlantic 10 Conference as a whole. The Billikens made the first round of the NIT tournament last season and also made an appearance in the 2019 NCAA tournament.
Walker is taking a different approach to getting drafted than most others. He didn’t go to college and he also didn’t go to the G-League. Instead, he is with Chameleon BX, a 12-month personalized training program to get ready for the Draft. He was the MaxPreps National Freshman of the Year in 2017 and received offers from many top Division I programs like Michigan and Kansas among others, according to a release issued by the Wizards.
