Pregame notes
This is the second to last game before the Olympic break and the Washington Mystics are going to New York to take on the Liberty. Both teams last faced each other at the beginning of the season where the Mystics blew them out 101-72 due to a great effort of two members of the USA Women’s Olympic basketball team: Tina Charles and Ariel Atkins.
The Mystics have brought back Megan Gustafson and Shatori Walker-Kimbrough on seven day contracts which can prove to be beneficial for Washington especially having a familiar face in Walker-Kimbrough from the 2019 championship team. She can prove to be a valuable asset in the guard position since Natasha Cloud has been out with an ankle injury. And let’s not forget her hilarious bench antics in support of her teammates.
Washington sits at 7-9 in ninth place in standings but not far back as they’re only two games from moving to fourth place. This season can go either way especially after some time off for some players due to the Olympics.
