NBA Draft 2021: Wizards invite five prospects for Tuesday workouts

None of the five prospects are likely getting drafted in the second round, but Mark Vital is the biggest name and could be a multipositional defender on an NBA team.

The Washington Wizards have invited five prospects to workouts for Tuesday. They are the following:

  • Mitchell Ballock, G, Creighton
  • DJ Carton, G, Marquette
  • Matt Coleman III, G, Texas
  • Ryan Daly, G, St. Joseph’s
  • Mark Vital, G/F, Baylor

All of the players have played four college seasons except for Carton, who is coming off his sophomore season for the Golden Eagles. Of the five players listed, Ryan Daly is the most prolific scorer, where he averaged 18.5 points per game in 10 appearances. The Hawks played 20 games last season.

Vital, however is probably the biggest name of this group. He was a starter on Baylor’s national championship team where he averaged 5.6 points and 6.7 rebounds last season. He’s an undersized forward but also listed at guard. If he were to play on the Wizards, he could be a multi-positional defender, where he was one of the finalists for the Naismith Defensive Player of the Year in 2019-20.

None of the players listed are ranked in the Top 100 of NBADraft.net or SI’s prospect rankings, so they are likely coming in as possible Summer League or training camp invites, at least from an NBA perspective.
