The Washington Mystics are 0-2....in preseason as it comes to a close. They lost to the Minnesota Lynx 79-68 on the road. If we were to go based off these last two games then the Mystics aren’t getting shots to fall early and it showed overall as they shot under 30 percent as a team.

Tina Charles scored a team-high 18 points along with five rebounds and three assists. Her game was on point per usual. Followed behind her was Ariel Atkins with 10 points, two rebounds and two assists.

After being down four points in the first quarter to the Lynx, Washington only scored eight points in the second quarter leading to a 40-25 deficit at the half. The Mystics came out hot in the third quarter outscoring Minnesota 22-16 but the Lynx just wouldn’t let up as they secured the win. Rachel Banham had a game-high 23 points leading the Lynx to victory.

Back to the Mystics terrible shooting, they were 19-66 from the floor as well as 7-29 from three-point range. Only players on the Mystics who shot well was Charles who was 7-of-13 and Stella Johnson who had seven points and was 3-of-6.

With the preseason coming to a close, now Washington has to finalize their roster and get it down to 12 players. That means there may be a few players who despite being invited to training camp won’t make the team and be cut. It’s a rough game but that’s just how the ball drops.

Washington will play a week from today on May 15 opening their season at home at the Entertainment and Sports Arena hosting the Chicago Sky.
