On Tuesday, the Washington Wizards announced that the D.C. government has approved Monumental Sports & Entertainment’s request to increase indoor arena capacity to 50 percent. The announcement was made in an email to Wizards season ticket holders. I am a Washington Wizards season ticket holder.
At 50 percent capacity, the Wizards can hold nearly 10,000 fans per game according to their email. People can now buy single seats and social distancing requirements have been relaxed in most locations. Fans are still required to wear face masks in the arena. And for those of you who are looking to resell tickets, you can do that as well.
If the Wizards make the second round of the playoffs, games could be at full capacity for any games on or after June 11.
The email can be read below. Some information was redacted because it contains personally sensitive information:
Dear [WIZARDS FAN],
We are very excited to share that the District of Columbia has approved our request to increase capacity to 50% in time for our first home playoff game on Saturday, May 29 at 7 P.M. This means we are able to welcome nearly 10,000 Wizards fans into Capital One Arena as this playoff series comes home to The District! As such, additional seat locations have just been released for home games 1 and 2 (games 3 and 4 of the series) on May 29 and May 31, respectively, and we want to offer the first opportunity to purchase these seats to our DC 12 Club members.
Your bonus presale time slot will begin [at some time today.]
There will be a strict purchase limit of 8 tickets per account per game during the bonus presale. While social distancing guidelines will no longer be in place for most seat locations at Capital One Arena, all fans must continue to wear a mask at all times while in the arena except for when actively eating or drinking in your designated seat locations. All other arena health and safety protocols will remain in place, including our “no bags” policy, designated points of entry listed on each ticket, and our enhanced cleaning measures throughout the arena.
The bonus DC 12 Club presale will conclude at 1:45 p.m. today. At the start of your time slot, you may access the presale by logging in to Account Manager through the link above. Please note that if you attempt to log in prior to the start of your time slot, you will not have access to the inventory and will need to log out and log back in at your assigned time. Please do not attempt to log in early and refresh your browser window at your designated presale time, as this will result in an error.
