Pregame notes
The Washington Mystics (1-3) will play the Indiana Fever (1-4) again on Tuesday after losing 89-77 despite 31 points from Tina Charles. That previous game was also the first game for Myisha Hines-Allen since playing overseas. She didn’t do so hot offensively as she was held scoreless. But we know she’ll get going as the season progresses.
The Mystics need that x-factor off the bench. The only players in double figures in their loss was Charles, Atkins and Erica McCall who were starters in the game. The bench only gave 12 points.
Indiana is a good scoring team especially with four of their five starters in double digits and Victoria Vivians off the bench pitching in 11 points. Washington needed to get going offensively as they went cold in the third quarter being outscored 27-13. If they expect a victory on Tuesday then adjustments have to be made to get that.
It still may be a little while before we see Elena Delle Donne on the floor and of course there’s no Emma Meesseman at least until after the Tokyo Olympics.
The Mystics just aren’t playing well offensively and it’s showing in each and every game. If nothing changes then Washington will be at the bottom of the barrel.
