After an up and down season, the Wizards will play their 72nd and final game of the regular season against division foe, Charlotte Hornets. The stakes for this game are high. The winner of this matchup, will be the 8th seed and will play the Boston Celtics on Tuesday for the first play-in game between the 7th and 8th seeds. The loser of this matchup will drop to the 9th and 10th seed play-in game (actual seed would depend if the Indiana Pacers win their final game on Sunday and potential tiebreakers).
Moving up to the 8th seed is huge because it would allow the Wizards to have two chances at a playoff spot. The loser of the 7th-8th play-in game would still be able to play one more time for a shot at the final playoff spot, so optimally winning today’s game against the Hornets would give the Wizards some margin of error.
Leading up to game time, Bradley Beal is listed as questionable, which is an upgrade from his previous status. Needless to say it would be a huge boost if he can play.
On the Hornets side, they will be without their star forward Gordon Hayward who is not expected to return anytime soon. They recently have gotten back their Rookie of the Year candidate back, LaMelo Ball.
The Wizards have lost their previous two matchups against the Hornets. Can they break through and get to the 8th seed? Join the conversation below and let’s see how the Wizards finish out the 2020-21 campaign.
