Wizards vs. Hornets preview: Washington hosts regular season finale on Sunday afternoon

Crucial seeding consequences are possibly on the line.

NBA: Washington Wizards at Charlotte Hornets Nell Redmond-USA TODAY Sports

The Washington Wizards are completing their regular season Sunday afternoon on a matinee game against Play-In seeding rivals Charlotte Hornets. After having clinched a Play-In spot (this sentence sounds #SoWizards) this game could have seeding consequences, but this depends on outcomes from Indiana’s game as well as we explain in a separate post.

When: Sunday, May 16 at 1 p.m. ET

Where: Capital One Arena, DC

How to watch: LeaguePass

Injury Report

Pre-game notes

Inspiration from the top — Nothing like some inspiration from the owner to get your guys playing hard (#SoWizards):

“... everyone in the organization is pleased that we’ve gotten this far. All of the focus is on just getting into that play-in.”

Nothing like “just getting into that play-in” as inspiration.

Seeding consequences — The Wizards won’t be playing tonight (Saturday) but both Indiana and Charlotte have. This already gives the Wizards a slight edge going into the Play-Ins. Actually, it also helps the Wizards that the Hornets just had an OT heartbreaking loss against the Knicks in New York and have to travel to DC for an early game. Depending on whether the Wizards win or lose this one they’ll finish 8th or 10th, most likely. See here for the breakdown.

Flashback: The Hornets handled the Wizards twice already this season
