The Washington Wizards are fully in postseason mode. They lost to the Dallas Mavericks 125-124 after Dorian Finney-Smith made a go-ahead jump shot with 9 seconds left. This game was a loss, but Washington still played well overall.

After the first quarter of this game, Washington was down 38-26 letting Dallas do whatever they wanted, and I wouldn’t blame you for tuning out at that point. Dallas was ahead by as many as 18 points early in the second until Washington came back, thanks to Westbrook and Beal scoring a combined 29 of Washington’s 39 points in that period. The Wizards were only down 70-65 after the first half, but they had the momentum heading into the third.

And boy did Washington still have the momentum in the third quarter! They were able to reclaim the lead, being up by as many as eight points! Westbrook continued to go off, dunking the ball like this as an exclamation point!

Ultimately, this game was decided in the fourth quarter which was a thriller. Dallas was able to reclaim the lead with a 111-109 lead with a bit over five minutes to go after a ball ricocheted off Westbrook for an own goal! But hey, this team wasn’t giving up. Things were neck and neck to the end.

For Washington, Westbrook had another double double with 42 points and 10 rebounds but didn’t was one assist shy of another triple-double. Bradley Beal added 29 points and Rui Hachimura added 18 more.

Luka Doncic had a triple-double with 30 points, 20 rebounds and 11 assists for Dallas. Finney-Smith finIshed the night with 22 points.

The Wizards are heading back home on Monday when they play the Indiana Pacers. Tip-off is at 7 p.m. ET.
