The Washington Wizards will take on the Golden State Warriors tonight at 10 p.m. ET. You can watch the game on NBC Sports Washington (or Bay Area if you’re in California).
Tonight will feel sort of strange assuming Beal plays tonight despite a nerve injury in his hip. It wasn’t long ago when the Wizards’ back of Beal and former point guard John Wall were one of the rising star backcourts along with Golden State’s Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson.
Now, Wall is with the Houston Rockets who are doing poorly to say the least. And though Russell Westbrook has taken Wall’s place, it’s not the same feeling of optimism we had in 2015.
As for the Warriors. Curry and Thompson were part of three NBA championship teams in 2015, 2017 and 2018. And both have suffered injuries of their own. Last season, Curry missed most of the season due to a hand injury while Thompson had a torn ACL that he suffered during the 2019 NBA Finals. And now, Thompson is still out due to a torn Achilles tendon.
This season, the Warriors are back in the playoff race by a thread (they are 10th in the West), but far from their glory days. And the Wizards are trudging their way toward an offseason where we expect a lot of changes.
Enjoy the game tonight. Go Wizards.
