The 2021 WNBA Draft is tonight at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN. The event will be held virtually, like last year because of the coronavirus pandemic.
First, you never know if there’s a draft trade and Washington ends up getting back in. Also, given how deep and small rosters are, it’s inevitable that most second and third round picks just aren’t going to be on a roster for very long, if at all. It’s not unheard of to see a first round pick get cut as well. If the Mystics suffer a bout of injuries this season, perhaps some players who are drafted tonight but cut before opening day could be in consideration.

I expect tonight to be quiet for Washington simply because they don’t have much salary cap room, want to leave the door open for Emma Meesseman to return after the Olympics, and it’s just going to be hard for any second or third round draft pick to make the opening day roster at this time. But as they always say, expect the unexpected! We’ll give you updates if Washington gets back in the draft and/or makes any other moves tonight.
