SB Nation NBA Reacts Part 1 of 3: Wizards fan confidence reaches a season-high 48 percent!

Don’t be surprised to see a correction in the next survey given the team’s fall back to Earth.

The latest results in our weekly SB Nation NBA Reacts surveys are in! This will be in three parts. Today, we will talk about the team-specific results involving the Washington Wizards and this evening I’ll share our questions on evaluating Scott Brooks and the team’s priorities. And tomorrow, we will talk about the national level questions, which were on NBA Top Shot.

So, let’s begin!

Wizards fan confidence hits a season-high FORTY-EIGHT PERCENT!

SB Nation

Yup, you read that right. The Wizards are 13-20, tied for 12th in the Eastern Conference but nearly half of all fans are confident in the team’s direction. This is as of the most recent survey which closed on Mar. 2 in the afternoon.

The 48 percent figure is also a season-high. Here is a list of the figures below.

Why is Wizards fan confidence so high, relatively speaking?

Here are several possible reasons.

  • The Wizards won seven of eight games, the last coming on Feb. 27 — The Wizards went 2-1 in the three games since the Feb. 25 survey closed. Yes, the Celtics game on Feb. 28 was a downer, but it also wasn’t reason to panic just yet if one was thinking this winning stretch was a sign of something that can persist through the All-Star Break and beyond.
  • New Wizards respondents are joining SB Nation NBA Reacts and are more optimistic about the team’s direction than our historic average — I cannot disclose specific figures at this time, but our group is among the most responsive among all 30 NBA team sites on SB Nation NBA’s network. So let’s give ourselves a pat on the back! We are continuing to get more people to join and these fans are more optimistic about the team than some of our commenters have been.
  • The Mar. 2 loss happened after the last survey closed — I’m pretty sure that if this week’s survey ended today, we would have had some responses AFTER Washington’s 125-111 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies last night. That loss along with the Feb. 28 loss to the Celtics would be enough to make some folks lose confidence in the team for that reason. Therefore, barring a blowout win over the Los Angeles Clippers tomorrow night and an All-Star MVP performance by Bradley Beal next Sunday, I don’t think fan confidence will be 50 percent barring some outside interference to rig the survey results.
