The Wizards won six of their last seven games. But they are still 12th in the Eastern Conference and the season schedule isn’t getting easier.
So the NBA world is focusing back to the top Wizards story of the day: Which teams want to trade for Bradley Beal? Or, which teams have a good shot to get him?
The Golden State Warriors are one team that may be looking to get into the mix, according to Heavy.com, citing a recent Locked on Warriors podcast where San Jose Mercury News writer Wes Goldberg suggested that Golden State could be a possibility.
Unlike most teams, Golden State could have assets to help the Wizards rebuild if they trade some coveted players and/or picks like rookie James Wiseman and pick up a 2021 or 2022 first round draft pick which was originally the MInnesota Timberwolves’ to Washington. The year is in question because we don’t know where the Timberwolves will finish this season though they are almost definitely lottery bound, and the draft lottery hasn’t happened yet.
If Beal plays in Golden State, he would form a potentially lethal backcourt with point guard Stephen Curry and help get the Warriors back in contention for a Western Conference Finals appearance ... or better. As for Washington, I think it’ll be a long road to recovery.
Anyway, as we all know, Beal wants to stay in Washington and the Wizards don’t want to let him go. But do you think the Warriors General Manager Bob Myers or another team’s front office can in the words of Don Vito ... “make an offer Tommy Sheppard can’t refuse?”
After all, most teams want Beal. And ... the trade deadline is on Mar. 25. The rumors aren’t stopping until then.
