The Washington Wizards are about the begin the 2021-22 regular season, but they aren’t fully vaccinated against the coronavirus. Bradley Beal is their franchise player and announced that he wasn’t, questioning whether the shot could prevent COVID-19 given that there are breakthrough infections.

Barring a vaccine mandate in Washington, D.C. on home team players (like what New York City, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Toronto), Beal will be the most visible unvaccinated player in the NBA, unless he himself received the shot within the last couple weeks. And if a vaccine mandate happens in D.C. for those at indoor arenas, it could derail the season.

The Mystics are now in the offseason and we will soon go through player evaluations and more. They are at an inflection point after missing the 2021 WNBA Playoffs and a season where Elena Delle Donne only played three games, and where Tina Charles will become a free agent after this season.
