Deni Avdija was parodied on an Israeli sketch comedy earlier this week

Even during these tough times, let’s have a moment of levity featuring one of Washington’s rookies!

Washington Wizards forward Deni Avdija was parodied on an Israeli television show recently, which Chase Hughes of NBC Sports Washington showed and wrote about earlier today.

I went ahead and embedded the video above. The video is entirely in Hebrew, but the actor impersonating Avdija does have some English lines along the way. His father, Zufer was also parodied on the show “Eretz Nehederet” according to Hughes’ piece.

Avdija even posted a clip on his Instagram account.

I love watching parody videos, since they are a sign that a celebrity has “made it,” like Avdija mentioned. As long as a celebrity didn’t get on the news for the wrong reasons, the parodies are a sign of respect, just like they often are on “Saturday Night Live.”

The Wizards generally aren’t as popular among NBA fans across the globe as the Los Angeles Lakers or the New York Knicks. So I generally liked watching the parody simply because of the Wizards jersey Avdija’s impersonator wore, even if I didn’t understand much of it.
