On Wednesday, Monumental Sports & Entertainment announced that former Washington Wizards, Mystics and Capitals owner Irene Pollin passed away. She was 96.

Along with her husband, the late Abe Pollin, they owned the Washington Wizards (then-Chicago Zephyrs) franchise since 1963. They were the founding members of the Capitals NHL franchise in 1974 and the Mystics in 1998.

Rest in paradise Mrs. Pollin.
