Last month, I wrote that Washington Wizards alum and recently retired center Marcin Gortat deserved a public tribute from the team. Unlike some other recent players, he never received a public “welcome back,” at least in the form of a video in his first game back as an opposing player.
When he played for the Los Angeles Clippers in the 2018-19 NBA season, Washington didn’t have a video for him. That made it seem like the “Polish Machine” was more like, the “Polski rak” ... or “Polish Cancer.”
Ultimately, the team gave Gortat the “Welcome back” moment he deserved all along. He was back for their game against the Atlanta Hawks AND that tribute video too!
